Skype on Linux beta capabilities

Skype for Linux

Note, Skype for Linux is now caught up feature-wise with Windows & Mac–IF you use the new repo. That is, if you previously had Skype 5 Beta installed, you need to install this new Skype 8 Beta .deb: Skype 8.7 Beta for Linux. It will download skypeforlinux-64-insider.deb, that installs fresh or over Skype 5.x with

sudo gdebi skypeforlinux-64-insider.deb

Skype for Linux features

Skype for Linux is claimed to have feature parity with the Windows and Mac Skype, including:

feature in Skype 8.7 Linux

one-one & group audio chat yes
share Linux screen/view other’s screen yes
auto answer no

Skype HTML5 web broswer client

An alternative to installing the full desktop/mobile Skype program is simply browsing to

Note: older Skype for Linux version 4.x no longer works and should be uninstalled.
