Disabling the Cygwin SSH server means you will need an alternative means of control, whether physical presence or TeamViewer etc. Don’t do this for a remote PC before you know the alternative remote control method will work!
Disable Cygwin Windows SSH server by:
- open Cygwin using “Run As Administrator”:
cygrunsrv -E sshd cygrunsrv -R sshd
- reboot and verify that you CANNOT connect to your former SSH server. You won’t see
CYGWIN sshdin services.msc anymore, either.
