The current versions of GNU Octave don’t work on Windows XP, and hence do not work on ReactOS yet, since ReactOS is currently at Windows 2003 / XP. Fortunately, GNU Octave 4.2 CLI does work on ReactOS. However, the GNU Octave IDE / GUI do not work on ReactOS at this time.
- download and install
- The Program shortcuts don’t work, so create a new Link on the desktop to
c:\Octave\Octave-4.2.2\bin\octave-cli.exeThis will open a terminal with Octave prompt.
- to use Octave from the Command Prompt as one traditionally would with Linux etc., add to PATH under Control Panel → System → Advanced
The error received on installing or trying to run GNU Octave 4.4 on ReactOS is:
The procedure entry point GetFinalPathNameByHandlew could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.
GetFinalPathNameByHandlew is not part of Windows XP.
