OpenCV 3 with Anaconda Python

You can install OpenCV 3 for Python on Linux, Mac, and Windows in one of two ways

  1. conda, pip or .whl (easy)
  2. compile it yourself (less easy)

Anaconda Python 2.7 updated OpenCV to 2.4.10, but Anaconda’s distributed version of OpenCV is still mostly broken with regard to:

cv2.VideoCapture

cv2.imshow()

and more. So that’s why you might want to compile OpenCV for yourself, besides the higher performance from being compiled with optimizations for your CPU.
