Intensely bright aurora seen Nov. 8, 1991 evening in the Midwest

After night fell, I saw clearly from the north windows aurora, coming up to roughly 10 degrees elevation and then moving up higher to maybe 20 degrees elevation. I was really interested in this display, but then I had to go to bed as I wasn’t feeling well from a cold. It made me feel cheered up a little at least to see this.

I have seen the pictures of aurora usually have a bright yellowish-green and red color, but this aurora seemed to be all red. I took a couple snapshots with my mom’s Kodak 110 Instamatic. I am not sure if they’ll turn out, since the pictures even under low-moderate lighting are dark and grainy, but maybe I’ll see some hint of red from the aurora.
