I accepted admission to BU ECE PhD program

Initially I accepted an IGERT fellowship at another slightly lower-ranked Boston-area university. However, a few factors led me to ultimately change my mind and accept at BU:

  1. prestige of BU–a professor at the initial university urged me to actually go to BU instead. BU ECE is rapidly expanding its competitiveness
  2. prestige of advisor–also a rapidly rising star
  3. ability to expand into geoscience–rather than simply a novel application of traditional radar
  4. personal, extended appeal of BU ECE Dept. chair–touching on points above

A difficulty is the sabbatical of potential advisor, but the first year will be too intensely busy for much research. I will start work in the summer for him to get an early handle on graduate fellowship applications.
